Comments
When visitors post comments on our site, we collect the information shown in the comment form along with the visitor’s IP address and browser details to help us detect and block spam.
An anonymized code generated from your email address (hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to verify if you are using it. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile image linked to Gravatar becomes publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you choose to upload images, please avoid including files with embedded location details (EXIF GPS). Other users may be able to download and view this data if it’s left in the file.
Cookies
- If you comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies. This helps you by automatically filling in your details the next time you leave a comment. These cookies last for one year.
- When you access our login page, we create a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted once you close your browser.
- After logging in, we generate cookies that store your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and display settings for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will remain active for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
- If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be stored in your browser. It doesn’t contain personal data — only the post ID of the article — and expires in 24 hours.
Embedded Content
Articles on this site may feature embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles from external platforms). This embedded material works the same way as if you had directly visited the other website.
Those websites may gather data about you, set their own cookies, or use third-party tracking systems. They may also monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you are logged in to that external site.
Sharing of Data
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.
Data Retention
- Comments and related metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically approve future comments without holding them in moderation.
- For registered users, we keep the personal data they provide in their account profile. Users can view, update, or delete their personal information anytime (except for their username). Website administrators also have access to edit this information if necessary.
Your Data Rights
If you have an account or have left comments, you may request an exported copy of the personal data we store about you, including all details you’ve shared with us. You may also ask us to delete your personal data. However, certain information may be retained if required by law, administrative needs, or security reasons.
Where Your Data Goes
Visitor comments may be processed by an automated spam detection service.
